Report: Rockets Sign Gary Clark And Danuel House To New Deals

The Rockets were at a crossroads with one of their young players, Gary Clark. After signing him to a two-way contract, the rookie Clark played his way into the Rockets rotation faster than expected. Due to players only being allowed to stay on the NBA roster for 45 days under a two-way deal, the Rockets had to decide whether his contract would be converted or not. A decision has been made, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. Clark's two-way contract has been converted to a three-year, $3.7 million deal. His contract is fully guaranteed for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.

The Rockets fell in love with Clark quickly. He is an older rookie, which showed in-game as he was prepared for the pace and aggressiveness of the NBA. While his three-point shot still needs work, Clark has the willingness to shoot, which is encouraging. His defense and hustle are what makes him perfect for the Rockets. Clark does great on the weak-side and reads the court well defensively. His hustle forces extra possessions for the Rockets offensively. All of that summed up earned Clark a new contract with the organization.

This what not the only move the Rockets made Thursday afternoon. Danuel House was signed on November 26 and appeared in five games, with one of those being an 18-point outing against the Dallas Mavericks. House was released on December 3, but is already back with the Rockets. Charania also reported that House has been signed to a two-way contract. With each team only allowed to sign two players to two-way contracts, House takes Clark's spot here. House can be with the Rockets roster for up to 45 days.
The Rockets currently sit at 11-12 as they head to Utah for a 9:30 p.m. tip on Thursday.
