Report: Chris Paul agrees to four-year, $160 million deal with Rockets

There is some unfinished business.

According to reports, point guard Chris Paul has agreed to a new deal with the Rockets worth $160 million over four years. Paul opted into the final year of his contract last summer and accepted a sign and trade to the Rockets, where it was expected he would re-sign.

All-Star Chris Paul will sign a four-year, $160M max contract to stay with the Houston Rockets, league sources tell ESPN.

Paul also took to his Twitter account to inform the world of his re-signing.

This is a great day for both sides. The Rockets took a gamble on pairing Paul with James Harden and the two formed one of the best backcourts in the NBA and were one win away from the NBA Finals. Paul unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury that forced him to sit out the final two of games of the Western Conference Finals, reaching it for the first time in his career.

Due to the fact the Rockets have their own free agents they want to re-sign, focusing on Paul first was essential. With the deal now in place just minutes after the beginning of free agency, his focus can now be on retaining other free agents such as Clint Capela and Trevor Ariza. With Paul showing his desire to run it back and remain for the long haul, the other free agents might be more intrigued to stick around in Houston.
