The Houston Rockets are one of the most talented teams in the NBA, and are cruising on a streak made of good vibes and excellent chemistry. Somehow, the San Antonio Spurs were the team in this matchup with roster, chemistry and organizational issues. Without Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge, the Spurs fared little chance.
The Rockets shot under 30% from three point range, and it was never really a contest. The Rockets were on the second night of a back to back and it was over in the first quarter. Houston is missing a rotation player in Ryan Anderson but it didn't prevent the Spurs from falling behind by as many as 23 points. Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich pulled his entire starting lineup four minutes into the game.
That's the kind of game it was.
The Rockets are much better than this bastardized version of the Spurs. Without a real version of the Spurs to measure against this year, it's hard to know how that team would stack up against the Rockets, but it's unlikely to be enough of a challenge. For the first time in a very, very long time the Houston Rockets are legitimately elite.
And the San Antonio Spurs are not. There's little else to say about this funeral of a game.
