With their season hanging by a thread, it seems the Rockets have responded well. In the last two games, the team has looked great. They look focused, the defense was good, the ball movement has been good, and the overall tone has been good from start to finish.
James Harden had another excellent night coming off a back to back with 34 points (12/21 shooting from the field, 5/7 from behind the arc) and 6 assists. Dwight completely out played a budding star in Karl Anthony-Towns putting up playoff Dwight numbers (19 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block). The team as a whole was scorching hot from 3, even Josh Smith, who looks as though he's taken Beasley's rotation spot, had some awesome moments (11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a +22 for the night). Trevor Ariza also had an excellent night pouring in 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting (3/4 from behind the arc).
The defense looked as good as it could tonight and the pace of the game worked in Houston's favor. Patrick Beverley has done a much better job of creating offense, as his assist have actually improved over the year. He's playing as well as a he can off of Harden now.
Perhaps the team has had a light bulb moment after hitting the lowest of the lows in their loss to Phoenix. Probably not though. If the Jazz lose tonight in Dallas, and the Rockets win their next game, they'll have the 8 seed because Houston holds the tiebreaker over Utah. All you can do as a fan of the team is wait and cross your fingers for Utah to slip up and drop a game at this point.
There's never a doubt that this team will pull you back in only to stomp on your heart. Because, Rockets.
